What is BluRay?

Blu-ray Disc (also known as BD or Blu-ray) is an optical disc storage medium designed to supersede the standard DVD format. Its main uses are for storing high-definition videoPlayStation 3 video games, and other data, with up to 25 GB per single layered, and 50 GB per dual layered disc.

What can a Blu-ray can do that a DVD can't?

First of all, a Blu-ray disc can  hold much more video than a DVD, and that video will be of significantly higher quality.  In addition, the Blu-ray's HD specification provides for many features not available on a DVD.  The most important difference is that Blu-ray players can play full HD video, in either 1080i or 720p (Blu-ray player model dependant) via the Blu-ray player's HDMI or DVI port. DVD's are limited to playing either PAL or NTSC video with a maximum video image size of 720x576, whereas the Blu-ray HD image is 1920x1080.

How much does Blu-ray cost?

Blu-ray authoring depends very much on the size and format of the video you have to start with, but the following costing serves as a guideline for Blu-ray authoring and burning:

Encoding Blu-ray mpeg off your existing video file (Quicktime, AVI) = R330 per 20 minutes of video

Authoring DVD (includes menu and navigation) = R330 per hour (depending on how complex your required menu is). Minimum of 1 hour

Blu-ray discs = R50 for single layer (25GB) and R450 for dual layer (50GB)

What is Web Video?

A web video is a vieo that can be watched over the internet, either through a website or a Wide Area Network (WAN). We can either convert your existing video to a format that will be viewable and hosted on your website, using flash flv encoding for the best image quality available on the web. Other formats we can output include quicktime, windows media video, mpeg, avi and many more.
